Some problems still there: - for NTSC DVDs: I don't want 30fps since it contains double pictures (from the PAL-NTSC conversion). I've tried VirtuaDub's filter in order to get 25fps, but that wasn't worked well. Any other util to do this? Also I don't want to re-code the entire film, so it would be nice to have a util before FLASK. - this subtitle conversion is really sucks (OCR to get the text file). SubRip can handle 512 character types, sometimes it's not enough. I had to do the movie in 2 parts Check out MicroDVD player, it's really cool! Adam |

I came across your page MAKING THE HYBRID MPEG-4/MP3 AVI and it was way over my head but i thought i woud give it try anyway. A whole DVD one CD was too tempting a prise to resist. so i tried it all and it all works fine. except one thing using Flask to rip a whole dvd to fit on a DivX cd takes me around 10-14 hours. is this right? fortunatly i have a lot of fast PCs siting around and i use one of my P2-400 with 198mb to encode. i was using Windows Millennium 10-14 hours so i installed windows 2000 10-14 hours still, which OS is fastest for encoding (maybe 98?) and will a faster processor greatly improve encoding time? so please mail me with answers to.... expected encoding time, best OS. BTW your site rocks. |

Last weekend I was able to have a decent conversation (whithout B.S.ing) with a professional Multimedia Software engineer. Congrats. I do have a question /comment. I'm very new to this stuff, so please be patient with my ignorence. I recently backed up a copy of my eyes wide shut. When I used the DivX backup scheme (MPEG-4 & MP3 -> avi using flask) I get 20 minutes of interviews at both the front and end of the movie, with audio. But the movie in the middle has no audio. I didn't get to pick any streams so I have no idea what to do. Also, when I play the ripped VOB files from the DVD thats still on my harddrive, the audio is present for the movie, but not the interviews !?! I've done other DVD's and this is the first problematic one. Ever heard of this before?? |

I was listening to ABC World News last nite and I heard, and immediately watched, the story about the 16y/o Norwegian young man that was arrested!!! It seems that he cracked the code that prevents the average dude [ me ]from making copies of DVD movies. The story had the young man and the beautiful pictures of the isolation he lives in!! They also had a interview with Jack Valenti who represents the motion pic industry. Man! Was he ever worked up:) Aside from my social commentary that protests the arrest of a brilliant young man and the confiscation of his equiptment, have you heard about this???? Let us local folks know, and YES!!! I would contribute to his legal fund. The only mistake he made was not calling Valenti and SELLING him the code. The young man POSTED the whole thing on the NET!!! They arrest honest folks all the time!!! Good luck |
